SGT EWAN MOSMAN MILLER
Ewan Miller was born in New South Wales on 17 August 1948. He enlisted in the Citizen Military Forces (1 Commando Company) on 23 July 1966. He was conscripted into the Army on 29 January 1969 and was allocated to the Royal Australian Infantry. He underwent SAS selection in 1969 and was posted to SASR on 31 July 1969. Ewan came from 8th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment with the rank of Private on posting to SASR. Ewan served in South Vietnam with SASR from 22 July 1970 to 4 August 1971. Ewan was declared missing presumed killed following an aircraft crash in the Philippines on 26 February 1981. He was aboard a United States special warfare Hercules when it crashed soon after taking off from the Subic Bay naval base. Ewan’s next-of-kin at the time of his death was his mother.
